Upcoming Fitness Classes:
Class descriptions:
Beginner Stability Ball Class: This class is for individuals who do not have experience with using the stability ball in their exercise routine. This class will teach proper form and beginner level exercises while incorporating the ball. Great for people who are looking to add something new to their fitness regime. Stability balls are excellent tools for core strengthening and improving balance and coordination.
All levels Stability Ball Class: This class is for beginners to advanced exercisers using the stability ball. When instructing the exercise, different levels will be explained to meet different exercise levels. This class will incorporate resistance bands, body weight and the stability ball. This is a full body workout that will improve core strength, balance and coordination.
Core Training: All powerful movements originate from the center of the body out, and never from the limbs alone. Before any powerful, rapid muscle contractions can occur in the limbs, the spine must be solid and stable and the more stable the core, the most powerful the extremities can contract. The core muscles help control movements, transfer energy, shift body weight and move in any direction. A strong core distributes the stress of weight bearing and protects the back against injury. Most core training exercises are done using the stability ball and body weight. This can help a hockey player increase his strength and agility on the ice while preventing injuries on and off the ice.
Fat burn Interval Class: This class is a combination of plyometrics, and high intensity cardio bursts, combined with resistance band exercises. This class is great for increasing cardio endurance, anaerobic improvements and fat burning.
Small group Personal Training: Small group Personal Training is a unique way for people to benefit from the quality of service of Personal Training but in a small group situation. The group may be made up of a group of friends, work colleagues or hockey players with similar training goals or interests. The personal trainer will develop the workout routine based on group needs.
Kettlebell Fitness Class: Kettlebell workouts are intended to increase strength, endurance, agility and balance, challenging both the muscular and cardiovascular system with dynamic, total-body movements. Kettlebell workouts require the use of stabilizer muscles and will provide fast, impressive results. They are fantastic for hockey players!
Individual Personal Training: Work one-on-one with your Personal Trainer who will design an exercise program tailored to your fitness needs and motivates you to see results. If you would like to see an improvement in agility and flexibility, speed, strength, core training, and weight loss or weight gain, a personal trainer will help you meet your goals on your time schedule.
Flexibility: Hockey players are in special need of flexibility - especially the lower back and legs. Due to the bent leg nature of skating, many hockey players are unable to fully extend their hamstrings muscles which lead to tight hamstrings. Tight hamstrings can lead to their injury or injuries to the lower back and to the groin. Special attention should be paid to the hamstrings, groin, lower back and hips. These muscles and joints are under stress while skating and executing the maneuvers required by hockey. Good flexibility in those areas will enhance a player’s ability to play hockey. This class can be held after practice or a game when their bodies are most prepared for stretching. Stretching also helps with sore muscles after an intense workout.
Nutrition and Wellness advice: Proper nutrition is essential for optimal performance, on the ice and off. Athletes must fuel their body with the right foods to have their body work efficiently. What one consumes before and after a workout can affect their game. I will offer nutritional and dietary advice for the hockey player to keep on top of their game and see performance improvements.
Pre Natal Fitness: This class is designed for pregnant women who want to exercise in a safe and effective manner. This class will work with women and target specific areas affected by pregnancy.
This class is great to meet other expecting women and discuss changes going on in their growing bodies.
Post Natal Fitness: This class is geared to women who have given birth and would like to work on restoring their pre-pregnancy state. Class will be a full body workout with emphasis on those areas primarily affected by pregnancy.
